"Seven of Nine is going to die." The Admiral's voice was hard.
Captain Janeway felt her heart break in two. "What?" Was it true? Was her lover really going to leave her?
The older Janeway nodded. "Three years from now. She'll be injured on an away mission. She'll make it back to Voyager..." The Admiral looked the Captain in the eye with sternness, "and die in the arms of her husband."
The Captain stared, shellshocked."Husband?" she whispered, unable to believe it. What about her? What happened to them? What was in this future?
"Chakotay."
And something in the captain snapped. Tears, formed in her eyes and threatened to fall. How could Seven do this to her? Or rather, how will she do this to her? Did she really mess up so badly that Seven would run off with her second in command? Was this even possible?
Admiral Janeway took a hold of her younger self's arms. "He will never be the same after Seven's death, and neither will you. I'm giving you a chance. Not only for Seven, but for you. For the happiness you deserve." At no response, the Admiral let go. "Go to her." she said. "Spend the time with her that I didn't have. I'll talk to you in the morning."
And with that, the Admiral walked down the corridor, leaving her younger, confused self behind to think.
